Most breast cancer is in the body five to eight years before it can be detected through current methods. Earlier detection may prevent invasive surgery, minimize treatment and dramatically increase survival chances.
With your help, we can end the devastating effects of breast cancer, earlier.
Think Pink 5K
Every fall Connor House hosts a Think Pink 5K. The money raised from the race goes to Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test and t-shirts are sold online with registration to the race. Connor House is advertising the race to Davidson College, local restaurants and businesses in the town of Davidson, and to athletic businesses and running clubs in the greater Charlotte area.
Local Outreach
Throughout the school year, Connor House partners with local businesses and restaurants to host profit shares, where part of the money made in a set time period gets donated to earlier.org. In October, in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Connor teams up with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. to educate the Davidson College campus about issues surrounding breast cancer, as well as methods for early detection, awareness, and prevention. We host speakers who have dealt with breast cancer, honor patients with our pink soccer and field hockey games, give proceeds from “Think Pink” held at our on-campus coffee shop, and sell T-shirts to raise money for Friends.
Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test
is the only non-profit in the nation dedicated solely to finding an earlier biological test for breast cancer. The non- profit is based in Greensboro, NC, and is run by 3 exceptional women who are devoted to promoting the research that will soon find an earlier test. Though many organizations search for a cure, Friends focuses on detecting the cancer earlier, which can prevent invasive surgery, minimize treatment, and drastically increase survival chances.
